I reviewed these notes in early April 2022. Thanks Richard33 for the correction about the buoys being replaced by Piles; you can see them very clearly in the video I have added. The Yacht Club's tariff has gone up a wee bit but we have received several good reports about them.

But not at the same time.

My companion and I were privileged (if that's the word) to be served the first meal by the new caterers at RVYC a couple of weeks ago. Not a patch on the old Sunday roasts and Wednesday pies but an adequate pub menu, well cooked and presented. And my first draught pint for over a year, of excellent Yachtsman bitter, bought for me by the Commodore. The club maintains its excellent reputation.

A good idea to phone up beforehand to check there'll be room on the pontoon.

Please note that when "delving deeper" into the creek, the three buoys referred to are now piles. So the small green buoy on the stbd side, seen after sighting the leading marks (a pair of triangles on the western shore), is now a freshly painted green pile. Similarly, the red buoy seen following a swing to port is now a pile, as is the green buoy to stbd seen just after the boatyard.

I'd like to endorse the complimentary comments above about the RVYC. I've been there (on their pontoon) three times and every time have had a warm welcome from friendly club members, a pint or two of well-kept beer and an excellent meal.

There are no changes here but we have been able to add Gary Flashman's notes which are very useful. The Yacht Club has maintained its prices but they tell us that shorepower is not available on their pontoon.

Not much changes here although we are still attempting to discover if there have been any new, boat orientated developments in the industrial site to the south of the Yacht Club.

A short walk up the bridleway opposite the Fishbourne pub takes visitors to Quarr Abbey a Benedictine Abbey with an attractive tea room and gardens plus art gallery and nature walks. A pleasant diversion and popular with both locals and visitors. The website is www.quarrabbey,co.uk.

The notes for Wootton Creek were updated by Don T on 21st January 2013. Local developements have reduced the provision of moorings within the creek leaving the RVYC as the only spot which welcomes the cruising yachtie.
