Anchoring charges update
Written by Bryant | 8th Sep 2023
You might want to update the information for Langstone Harbour. I know that you give a date for when you last updated the page but.... the anchoring fees are nearly treble your quoted flat rates. They are now charging by length and for me it is £22.

Update March 2022
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 24th Mar 2022
I reviewed these notes in March 2022. Prices have been adjusted. I think the first PHM for the channel to the marina is quite close to the beach which is possibly why it can be missed - but I would still give it the benefit of the doubt!!

I've noted Gee Bee's comment below re the entrance to the Southsea Marina channel. I've offered advice but that is based on what I can see from UKHO and Google. Just be aware that the spit there extends quite a way to the North.
Langstone - confused entrance to channel that leads to marina
Written by GeeBee | 27th Nov 2020
The entrance to the channel that takes you up to Southsea Marina is very badly marked: there is no clear port hand day mark at its entrance and, worse of all, Langstone HM has allowed boats to be moored such that they may completely encroach the very narrow channel, making it a difficult and potentially dangerous passage under the wrong conditions. When in the narrow channel it is very clearly marked with substantial port and starboard posts, all of which were renewed in Oct/Nov 2020. Contrary to the notes in the guide, there is no Marina Lounge to speak of: the Bombay Bay remains as a high quality Indian Cuisine site. Lastly, on calm, sunny days, Langstone Harbour entrance is one of the south coast's major jetski launching sites, so expect lots of speeding PWCs and the associated noise on such days.

Update Spring 2016
Written by dononshytalk | 9th Mar 2016
These notes were reviewed by Don in March 2016. The availability of visitors mooring outwith the Marina is unclear so a call to the harbour on VHF will be needed to clarify on the intended day.
ECA moorings
Written by Bailingben | 2nd Feb 2016
The ECA visitor moorings are deep water and on your port side in the 'RUN' when entering , the only issue with these moorings is that they are vulnerable when a southerly or northerly wind picks up and you end up with a wind against tide situation.
The other issue is the fishing boats do a very interesting 10 knots and make a big wash with isn't very fun to be hit by side on. The first mooring in the row which is the one closest to the slipway is a short stay only mooring, all the others are 24 hour moorings.
hope this helps.

Update March 2014
Written by dononshytalk | 31st Mar 2014
This site was reviewed March 2014. Harbour dues and Marina charges have increased for the 2014 season and these have been edited. We also note that, although the harbour no longer maintains any visitors moorings, they will rent out any spare moorings if they are available. We have also noted that the water-skying area based on the Langstone Channel is delineated by yellow buoys
